Have spent the morning working on an image for ‘sideshow’ a programme of shows, events, projects in Nottingham to coincide with the British Art Show… I’m going to keep the image under wraps (shame to spoil the surprise) but it involves crows, bird watching and Alfred Hitchcock in a kind of contemporary reworking of the Haywain…
Freezing cold today. Still dark when I got up. Looking out of the window – its snowed! I like to think this gives me inspiration for my work (The Last Plane Anywhere, Snowstorm et al) but probably the truth is more prosaic. For each of those pieces the insporation was respectively a long wait at East Midlands Airport to collect my parents from their holiday, and hanging round in [my new favorite shop] The Sherlock Holmes Emporium on Baker Street to get out of the pouring rain. But, snow is always good, even if it was just a dusting. You might say especially if it was just a dusting (in a kind of forensic way). Which reminds me, have just been invited to be in a show with (amongst others) David Adkins again.
